Whizzler Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Whizzler mobile application (“Whizzler,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information. Whizzler is a real-time trivia game operated by Richard Cheng (“the developer”). By creating an account and using Whizzler, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the game. Specifically:

Sign in with Apple credentials. When you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique account identifier and an email address. Depending on your choice, the email may be your real address or an anonymized Apple private-relay address. On your first sign-in only, Apple may also share your name, which we use solely to pre-fill an editable display name. We never receive your Apple password.
Profile information. A display name and a numeric tag (e.g. Alias#1234) that together form your public handle, plus a generated avatar. You can edit your display name at any time in the app.
Gameplay data. Your skill rating (ELO), number of matches played, and match history — including results, scores, and in-match actions — which power matchmaking, leaderboards, and your stats.
Social data. Friend connections and challenges you send or receive between accounts.
Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store a device token from the Apple Push Notification service so we can alert you to friend challenges. You can disable this at any time in iOS Settings or in the app.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Whizzler contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and no data brokers. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, health or financial information, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and authenticate your account.
To run matches, matchmaking, ratings, and your player stats.
To enable friends and challenges between players.
To send the in-app notifications you opt into (e.g. friend challenges).
To maintain the security and integrity of the game and prevent abuse.

We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, and we do not send promotional email.

4. How Your Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the app function, and only to the extent necessary:

Supabase — provides the backend database, authentication, and server infrastructure that store your account, profile, and gameplay data on our behalf.
Apple — provides Sign in with Apple (authentication) and the Apple Push Notification service (delivering notifications).

Your public handle and rating are visible to other players you are matched with or connected to as friends, which is an inherent part of multiplayer gameplay. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and associated data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see below), your personal data is permanently removed from our systems. Records of completed matches may persist in an anonymized form that is no longer linkable to you, so that opponents’ own game history remains intact.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, stats, and personal data, and cannot be undone.
Edit your information. You can change your display name in Settings → Edit profile.
Control notifications. You can turn notifications on or off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Revoke Sign in with Apple. You can revoke Whizzler’s access in iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) — including the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to obtain a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

7. Children’s Privacy

Whizzler is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Data Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and your authentication token is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using Whizzler, you consent to this processing.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
